It is a book for children from 5-6 years old, light-hearted and educational, which tells the story of how a girl discovers the pleasurable sensations that the clitoris can provide and how her grandmother answers her questions on this subject.
Natacha de Lotch has also written a second book “Renardo”, which focuses on the discovery of the penis and the pleasurable sensations it can provoke.
This is clearly a book that provides parents with a simple and light-hearted way to talk about sexuality with their young children. I love that the little girl goes to her grandmother and her grandmother says that of course she has a clitoris too. And she gives the image of a “pearl” for the head of the clitoris. That’s a nice way of looking at it.
These are the resources we need to begin sex education as soon as children explore their bodies and ask questions. As parents, we can be uncomfortable with sex education with our children on one hand, and on the other, not know what words to use, what level of detail to give, etc. This book gives us a thoughtful example of how to approach this topic with 5-7 year olds. Iris
