Where Should We Begin?
Esther Perel

Essentials | Miscellaneous
This podcast takes the audience inside the practice of Esther Perel, belgian psychotherapist living in the US, when she receives couples (heterosexual and homosexual). The themes covered are very varied: infidelity, sexuality, love, adoption, traumas, communication, etc. We hear both excerpts from therapeutic sessions as well as Esther Perel’s reflections on what she has heard and the techniques she has tried.
Esther Perel has also produced another podcast, How’s Work? about professional relationships. She has written two books: Mating in Captivity: Unlocking Erotic Intelligence (2006) and The State of Affairs: Rethinking Infidelity (2017). She also gave two TED talks on desire in a long-term relationship and infidelity.
What a genius psychotherapist, this Esther Perel! It’s beautiful to see her unravel, together with these couples, painful stories and stuck situations; to offer them keys to better understanding, role-playing, perspective on their situation, and a fresh approach to their problems. And with each episode, I learn a little more about the human being and relationship with one another, and therefore about myself and the way I make connections with others.
