The Diary of a Teenage Girl

This American movie is a dramatic comedy about a teenage girl who experiences the rise of desire and sex with her mother’s boyfriend.
Marielle Heller adapted Phobebe Gloeckner’s semi-autobiographical novel The Diary of a Teenage Girl, released in 2002, first into a play in 2010 in which she played the leading role and then into a film of the same name in 2015, in which Bel Powley is the leading actress.
I never get tired of watching films written and directed by women, where explorations of desire and sexuality are seen through the eyes of a teenager. The story is honest, raw, just the way I like it; the main actress have great presence; and some scenes are just like real poems.
